F.A.Q.
Q: Do I have to be a diver to join?
A: Not at all. The Dive Team is about education and preservation of our Earth’s oceans. Yes, we do urge everyone to become a certified diver but we need everyone’s help!
Q: I like Star Trek but I’m not a Trekkie.
A: The Roddenberry Dive Team utilizes some of the philosophies the Gene Roddenberry used in his creation of Star Trek but we are about helping our ocean’s. We use some of the fun of Star Trek to theme some of our events but you don’t have to be a “Trekkie” to join us.
Q: What happens to my membership dollars?
A: The Roddenberry DIve Team is structured as a "for proit" company but 100% of all monies get put back into the company to be used for operating expenses, merchandise and education. We are proud to be able to help fund projects like The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific's "Shark Smart" film, sending kids to "SeaCamp" and supporting the San Diego Oceans Foundation.
Q: I’m not a very good swimmer, so does that mean I can’t be a diver.
A: It is important that you are comfortable in the water but you sure don’t need to be a world-class swimmer. Most basic scuba certifications only require you to swim a few strokes to show you are comfortable.
Q: We’d like to have the Roddenberry Dive Team come to our favorite dive location.
A: We’d love to join you. In the next few months we hope to start visiting dive locations all over the world so we can meet our members. We’d also love to hear from you about your favorite local dive locations.
Q: Can you give me Star Trek actors addresses or pass along a message?
A: If you wish to contact any Star Trek actor or actress you will need to get in touch with their agents or fan clubs. From time to time we may have one of the stars join us for an event.
Q: Are you available to speak to our club or organization?
A: Please contact us and we can discuss it.
